Booking criteria
- The first priority is the allocation of bookings for all performance-based teaching and learning activities required by academic departments of the University
- Special University events take second priority ahead of student theatre and cultural performances
- The University is pleased to welcome community-based theatre events during the semester recesses, and at other times of the year, if the theatre is available.
How can we support your production?
- The Production Co-ordinator and theatre technicians are available to help solve any planning, design or organisational problems that may occur during the pre-production period, either before or during the booked period
- The theatre staff may be able to recommend the services of a lighting designer, but fees for their services would be a matter of negotiation between the hirer and the lighting designer
- Hirers are required to complete a production schedule and attend a pre-production meeting with the theatre staff two weeks to one month prior to "bump-in". This service and advice can often save time, money and frustration
- The hirer is required to provide all technical crews for the mounting and operation of the production
- Theatre staff will be available to give advice on the theatre's physical, sound and electrical facilities during 'set-up'; however it must be understood that they cannot be involved in any manual labour with scenery or the placing or hanging of lighting or sound equipment, and that their other departmental duties will allow only limited presence in the theatre once the advice session is completed
- Theatre technicians are available to solve or correct technical issues; however, they cannot assist the hirer in the box office, or with ticket taking etc
- If sufficient notice is given, a student may be available to work front of house or perform a technical function, but will have to be paid by the hirer at the standard award rates for students.
